20 Months of Luci!!!

Only 4 more months for me to count in "months"!!! Boy...she sure is growing fast...

No more baby anymore...full blown toddler!!! Miss Independent and Miss Diva

*Pics at bottom of post

What she is doing:She loves to be a helper...unload the dishwasher, help vacuum, wipe up any messes, turn off light switches, etc.

She loves to read books, play Mommy to her babies, put her toys in baskets, dump them out and then repeat!!! She loves to play outside still...although most days are too cold. She loves to sing and be sung to and she loves to "give love"...this includes hugs, kisses, and laying her head on your shoulder!

She can point to her nose, eyes, ears, chin, teeth, mouth, tongue, hair, cheeks, fingers, hands, feet, toes, knees, elbows, belly button (her fave), and we are currently working on shoulders. I try to teach her a new "part" every week or so. We have started noticing boobies and privates...I do acknowledge, but we don't work on pointing those out everyday! lol!

She loves to make animal sounds...her favorite is lion...this would make sense considering that Mitch and my college Alma Mater are the Lions...so most of our college t-shirts have lions on them!!! She loves pointing those out!! She can make sounds for cows, pigs, sheep, ducks, dog, cat, and we have been working on "hoot hoot" for an owl...random I know, but she has clothes with owls on them!

Her favorite songs are still ones that she can do hand motions to...Itsy Bitsy Spider, This Little Light of Mine, Skinamarinky Dinky Dink, Head/Shoulders/Knees/Toes, The Chicken Dance, Praise the Lord, If You're Happy and You Know It, Do Your Ears Hang Low.

She wakes up most mornings with a dry diaper so we sit on the potty if she wants. I'm still not making a big deal about it because most mornings she is not in the mood to potty in the potty. She also insists on taking off all of her clothes to potty (great, right?!). We will train full force when she is ready..I'm not too worried about it.

She loves Mickey Mouse Club House! She gets to watch an episode every morning while Mitch and I get ready. It is a great distraction for us to get ready for work! As much as she enjoys it, she rarely sits still to watch it.

What she is saying:She is beginning to talk more and more. I couldn't list all the words she is saying, but just so I have some down... more, juice, wa-wa (water) cheese, minnie, mimi, tetaw, dada, momma, nana, blue, purple, white, yellow, side (outside), thank you, please, welcome, and her favorite NO! She will mostly attempt to repeat anything you ask her to, but it may not sound how it is supposed to. We are working on putting two words together. She will occasionally on her own ...such as Thank you...but most of the time this take some prompting on our part.

What she is eating:She loves...CHEESE...and asks for it every.single.day...multiple times a day...I guess it could be worse...it's not cookies right?!
milk, juice, water (new!!), peas, carrots, chicken, ham, turkey, applesauce, bananas, pbj, bread, pasta, rice, beans, animal crackers, cheerios, gold fish, hamburger, grapes, and pretty much anything dipped in KETCHUP!!

She doesn't care for eggs, potatoes of any kind (occasionally she will eat fries), most fruit

Our Discipline:We struggle with this area because it so hard to figure out what they understand and what they don't. Typically, we redirect or give a stern no, "we don't touch that...play with this." If she continues after several attempts at us telling her no, she is instructed to go sit by the wall. This basically just allows her to forget what she was doing. She occasionally will slap at us (this goes through phases). This is something will absolutely do not tolerate. There no warning, no second chance. She is sternly told that "we do not hit people, that is not nice, we only show love", and she is sent to her room to sit on her bed. We close the door and let her stay in there usually a minute (which is forever to a 20 month old). Afterwards, we repeat to her that "we don't hit people, we only show love" and she is instructed to say she is sorry and show love. This almost always works and it is usually a while before she slaps again.

General Facts:
Overall she is a generally happy, good natured toddler! She loves her Momma and Dada and doesn't like it when they go Bye-Bye! We are teaching her to pray at every meal and she loves doing this! We have even spotted her praying with her baby before she feeds her! Too cute!! We love our little Luci so much!!!!!!

Getting to be an expert on using her spoon!! Note: I still try to serve her eggs just to see if she will eat them...9/10 she doesn't...even with ketchup.
Just lounging in her bed reading a book!
Playing Mommy: Taking her baby to potty!!
The hard life...relaxing in Mommy and Daddy's bed watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the morning!!
