A Story About the Moon and Stars

A couple of weeks ago, Luci was restless so we decided to go for a walk. The only problem was that it was dark outside. Well, we have never taken her for a walk in the dark, but we decided what the heck and loaded her up in the stroller.

It was a crisp, cool night and the sky was clear. Luci was a little apprehensive about being outside at first so I told her to look up and check out the moon. Her little eyes glistened with excitement. I think it was the first time she really took in her surroundings and that great big sky.

I told her to look at the moon and all the stars. She wanted to touch them . "No, Luci we can't touch them. They are too far away, " I told her. Her curious mind started to wonder how they got up there. "Well Luci, Jesus put those big stars and moon in the sky. And you know what, he has a name for each of those," I said as I tried to explain it in the simplest way possible. I looked at her and could tell that she was trying to take in that concept. "Baby Jesus did that," she asked. "Well, no he wasn't a baby...actually, God put those up there when he created..." I trailed off as I could see I was losing her. So, I replied back, "Yes Luci. Baby Jesus put those up there."

A few weeks later, I can't remember if we were driving or walking outside, but she proudly proclaimed to me, "Mommy, Baby Jesus put those stars and moon up there!!" "Yes, Luci, yes he did," I said with a smile.

Luke 18:16 "But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God."
