Typical Tuesdays

Nothing particularly special about today...just a typical Tuesday. Mitch and I went to work, Luci went to school, I went to lunch with Kerri, & then we came home. I started dinner while Mitch went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. I just threw together a whole wheat pasta dish with broccoli and tomatoes...& then put a quick Diet Coke cake in the oven. While it cooled, we went outside and took a walk around the block...and then did my favorite thing ever-pull weeds. Ha! We stayed outside until the sun went down and then got Luci in the bath. After her bath we ate a quick snack, read books, and then got her in bed. Nothing special about today...just a typical Tuesday.

However, 11 years ago, this day was nothing but typical. I was sitting in my math class when we got word that our nation was under attack. We flipped on the tv in time to see the first tower fall. I remember being scared, but mostly confused. I just couldn't understand...my mind just couldn't comprehend what was happening. Little did I know at that time how that particular day would shape every day in the life of our country thereafter.

As a parent, I long...hope...pray that Luci's life is filled with Typical Tuesdays. I pray that she never has to experience an absolute nightmare that our country experienced on 9/11 in her lifetime.

I don't know a lot of things...and there are so many unknowns in our country and for the future of our country. There are fears, confusion, & an uneasy spirit a lot of the time. But...there are some things I do know... I can lay my head on my pillow and rest with a peace because I know who holds my tomorrow. I know who holds the tomorrow of my family. I know who holds the tomorrow of our country. I know we have some of the greatest men and women laying down their lives everyday for our country. I hope in this political season that we all remember the phrase coined 11 years ago..."United We Stand; Divided We Fall."

I pray that we have a long life full of many, many moreTypical Tuesdays.

Weekend Recap- New Baby, Old Dress, New Car

What a fun weekend we had!!!

Friday after work we drove down to Paris to stay the night!! My mom cooked a hugggeeee meal...and I ate!!! Pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, carrots, mac and cheese, rotel spaghetti, rolls, and Nana made choco cake!!! Needless to say...I could barely move after we ate!!!

After dinner, we headed over to see Presley!!! She is so stinkin' cute...and I must say, she loved me! ;-)
Luci had such a good time fussing over Presley...and eating her Kit Kat and kool-aid from the Lowe's. Ahem, paybacks will come. :-))))

After we left the Lowe's, I started on dressing up Luci in something that I had wanted to for a while...

This is a pic of me and my Aunt Renata in her wedding in 1989! The dress I am wearing is a miniature bride dress that my Nana made me for the wedding...out of my Mom's wedding dress!!!

Sooo...39 years later from when my Mom got married...and 23 years later from when I wore the dress, I got to put my 3 year old daughter in it!!!

On Saturday morning, we had a quick breakfast and then headed up the hill to Fayetteville to eat lunch and check out some vehicles.

We didn't find anything we were too interested in, so we headed back to FSM...where the Hoskyn's were purchasing a vehicle!!

Sooo, long story short...Two sisters bought a new vehicle from the same dealership, from the same salesperson, all on the same day! Ha! We were having problems with the Equinox, so we traded it in and got a brand new, blizzard pearl, 2012 Highlander!!! We love it!!!

Luci didn't quite understand why we were getting rid of "her car"...and so she wouldn't smile for any pics! Ha!

On Sunday, we went to church, grabbed lunch, picked K & T up from the airport, and then just spent the rest of the day doing chores and relaxing!!!

Great weekend!!!

Also, don't forget...just a few more hours left to enter to win this wreath!!! Comment on this post, or the fb link from this post!!!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great 3 day weekend!! This is the first weekend since I can remember that we have not traveled for Labor Day weekend...and it was great!!!

What did we do???

Cleaned, played at the park, did laundry, played, cleaned, rested...and it was great!!!!!

Friday Morning before school... Sporting her Razorback shirt before school!! It was also Show and Share day...and she took her puppy! ;-)

Our little Razorback cheerleader!!!

We baby-sat Ellie while the rest of the Hoskyn crew went car shopping. It is hard to car shop when you need a car-seat, so we were happy to have Ellie for a while!!!

Lunch-time!!!

Nap-time. I had a 50% success rate. I'll let you decide which girl didn't get a nap...

Park-time!! It was wayyyy hot this weekend...so we limited our time to 30 minutes.

Heading out to dinner...we listened to the game on the radio after dinner!!!

Mitch and I had an impromptu date night!!! Since the little girl who didn't nap earlier in the day (no names mentioned) was so tired around dinner time, she fell asleep in the car...and slept all through dinner in her stroller! It was just a nice, quiet dinner for Mitch and I...we hardly noticed our sleeping daughter! :-))

More park time...again 30 minutes...so hot!

Getting a closer look at the geese with Daddy!

The ultimate success!!! Empty laundry hampers were achieved this weekend...and it lasted 2.5 seconds!!!!!

Helping clean up her mess! :-)

I started switching out summer clothes for fall. I had to leave a few summer clothes because the temps spiked again!!! Check out the gray leggings...they are for Halloween!! They have spider webs and purple spiders on them!!! I have always bought her tons of Halloween clothes!! I just think they are so much fun!!!

This little turkey thinks Mommy and Daddy's bed is for her! :-)

Brace Face

I started some correction on my teeth yesterday (I started the process a while back, but had to get new trays). I will be wearing trays (similar to Invisilign) for the next 6-8 weeks or so. This really started out as a vanity thing (I really wasn't happy with the way my teeth were looking) and I decided to look into some correction (I have never had braces). Well, one thing led to another, and my dentist thinks that this actually may help some of my TMJ problems...and if I didn't correct the way my teeth were turning now, it would get worse later.

He said regular braces would probably be over-kill at this point, so we decided on trays.

For 2 weeks, I am wearing a really thick, clear tray that will move my teeth. After 2 weeks, I will get a thinner, clear tray that will help lock them in place. Hopefully, I will only have to wear it  full-time for 4 weeks. I am supposed to wear it 22 out of 24 hours a day. I take it out to eat and to drink anything other than water. I have also been taking it out for work meetings the last two days...just because I "lisp" so bad. Hopefully, that will start getting better over the next few days.

I am talking realllly funny right now...and am in pain...but it really isn't too noticeable...and isn't long term (although, I will need to wear the second tray at night for probably forever).

I am excited to see the end results!!!!...and am REALLY excited if it will help some of my TMJ probs.

My first tray.

See, you can barely tell I have it in. Now when you hear me talk, that is a different story!!!
