Color Days

The month of January at Luci's school is "Color Month." Most of the days of January were labeled with a color. Students were to dress in the color of the day. They ate lunches centered around the color of the day (red day was spaghetti...black beans on black day...oranges on orange day, etc). They had activities/art centered around the color of the day.

We really had fun dressing Luci up! She has enjoyed the activities...and the lunches for the most part. I will have you know that my kid turned down chocolate milk on brown day. The girl just does not like it. Silly, silly girl. That is about the only kind of milk I will drink!

Luci missed several of the color days due catching the flu...but here are the ones she made it to...
As you will be able to see, these pics tell true stories of our mornings. Some are happy, silly, sad, and grumpy!

Grumpy on red day. I still laugh every time I see this pic!

Happy on white day!

Nursing her boo boo on black day.

Hiding from me behind the door on gray day.

Silliness on pink day!

Sweetness on brown day.

Unhappy on orange day. She wouldn't even show me her dress for the pic. Note the orange socks. Lol!

All smiles on purple day!

Weekend Recap- Family, Dinners, Relaxing

We had a really nice, relaxing, 3 day weekend! Friday after work, we had a quick dinner at La Fiesta. We decided to run home for a bit and then go back out after 7:00 to get some Cherry Berry. Well, as soon as we got home, Luci crawled in the bed and went to sleep...at 6:15. Let me just say, she needed that sleep. She had been realllly cranky the last part of the week. Since she went to bed so early, I decided I would crash early. I ended up going to sleep around 7:30, and Mitch followed behind around 8:30. Let's just say we were all tired!

We got up early on Saturday and headed to Brendon's basketball game. My mom's sis and one of her sons happened to be in town for the weekend so they were there too! After the game, we all headed out to brunch at the Egg and I and then back to my sister's house to hang out.

Busted out the V-Day clothes a little early!!! Thanks Petunia Mae for designing such a cute shirt!

Later in the afternoon we went to Cherry Berry and had a surprise visit with Alicia, Aaron, and Brooklyn! It was so nice to see them! We spent an hour just chatting and catching up while the girls played together.

Silly girls!

Later that night, we headed over to Kerri and Taylor's for dinner! Kerri is still coming home (yes, because I am still calling FSM her home!!!) on the weekends until their house sells. If anyone is in the market for a fabulous house, let me know!

On Sunday, we got up and went to church and came back home for lunch. I ended up cashing in on a long nap while Mitch and Luci hung out. After my nap, we went outside for a bit to soak up some of the nice weekend sunshine.

Doesn't everyone eat a cheese stick while reading their Bible before church?!?

Big girl on her bike!

The Hoskyn crew came over for dinner and Mitch and Mark took care of some things around the house.

On Monday, we stayed in our pj's until around 2! We watched the inauguration, took care of some laundry, and just lazied around. While Luci and Mitch decided to take a nap, I headed out for a little mani/pedi action!! It was much needed!

Pedi time!

So loving the color of my manicure!!! Steel gray with glitter!

A little more relaxing!!

Later that night, we went out to dinner with Sam and Kristal and caught up with them for a while.

It is so nice to have those 3 day weekend every now and then!

The Flu

Luci came down with the flu last week. Apparently a lot of kids in her class had it too. It was no fun. Poor girl had high fever, coughing, and runny nose. Thankfully I caught it earlier enough that we were able to get Tamiflu. After taking 2 doses, she was sooo much better. She was out of school for several days. Mitch just happened to be in California for work...so Mimi and I had to take shifts. Thankfully, she is back to her old self and good as new! Nothing hurts a Momma's heart more than a sick baby.

Poor girl just felt rotten.

This was taken after she was feeling better, but it hadn't been long enough for her to go back to school. Daddy made it home for her last sick day...but she wanted Mommy! :-)))

Not Saying the B Word

Not saying bye...nope, won't do it. Just saying see ya soon.

I met Kerri back in October of 2007. I was working as a Part-Time Assistant in the Student Activities Office, and she was hired as the Leadership Development Coordinator. I immediately didn't like her. She seemed snotty. She rarely came out to chat with the rest of us. Little did I know, she was actually working!!! Haha!! We still laugh about that!

Kerri and I have been through a lot together over the last 5 years...job changes, baby, divorce, relationships, dates, marriage, new houses, celiac, surgeries, Branson trips, dinners, dogs, tears, laughter...and lunches.

I will miss the lunches the most.

I'm pretty sure we have logged at least 1,000 lunches over the last 5 years. Taylor and Mitch are just lucky if we occasionally let them join us.

Taylor is lucky he fit in so well. There were many interviews and tests before he was allowed in to our secret club. I kid I kid. ;-)

Kerri has amazing opportunities right in front of her. Mitch and I are sooo happy for her and Taylor. I know she will do great things. I know she will be successful. I know she will be happier than she has ever been. I know her and Taylor will adjust and be happy in their new home.

But I will miss my friend.

Mitch will miss the woman who keeps his wife sane. Luci will miss her Kerweee. I will miss my friend.

I'm glad she is not going more than 3 hours away...or I might have to let the air out of her fancy, new tires.
:-)

Not saying the B word...So, see ya soon!

There are reasons some friendships are called Best.

My Birthday/NYE 2012

I always say I am lucky for having my birthday fall on NYE...I mean everyone in the world helps me celebrate my birthday!!! :-)

I woke up feeling pretty icky that morning. I laid in bed for a while, and Mitch brought me my Diet Coke. Luci bounced in shortly after and wanted me to open my cards and present, so I finally got up out of bed!

Mitch got me these Waterford crystal glasses that I have wanted for a while!!! I love them!! He also bought me a new hairdryer. He gave me the hair dryer last month. Mine had been on the fritz for a while, so he just went ahead and let me open it! Quick hair dryer story: After hearing me gripe about my hair dryer for so long (it kept over heating and turning off and on...it was like 7 years old), he contacted my friend (and hair stylist) Amanda to ask about what hair dryer he should get me. I thought that was really sweet that he was taking so much time to make sure that I got a good one! Thanks Amanda!!!

After presents, we got ready and met my Mom and Nana for lunch at the Bread Box. I love their cranberry pecan bread!! Yum! I had already opened my presents from Mom and Dad earlier in the week (coach clutch, pj's, and a cupcake caddy), but I got to open a really cute tote from my Nana and a Louisville Hard Rock Cafe shot glass from Jocie! I think I am up to about 30 of those now...or more!!!

After lunch, we went back home to eat some birthday cake!!!

After cake, I went and met Kerri for a birthday pedi! It was sooo cold that day so that warm water felt great!

After the pedi we went home to get ready to go out to dinner that night. Luci went and stayed with Quinn while Mitch, myself, Kerri, and Taylor went out to dinner at Rolando's.

The boys decided to share a dessert! lol!!! We made so much fun of them! :-)

After dinner we went back to our house to ring in the New Year...east coast style! We are soo old! lol!

Quick Birthday present story: I got an awesome insulated cup (full of candy!!) with my initials on the outside of it from Tasha, I got a casserole/cake pan with my name engraved on the side of the pan and on the lid to the pan from Kerri and Taylor, and I got a magnetic message board with a giant "M" on it from Becky. I love how all of my friends know I love cute, personalized stuff!!!! I am so blessed to have such great friends!!

It was such a great birthday! I got so many texts, fb messages, phone calls, and personal wishes for my birthday! I am so excited for what the New Year has in store! Hello 2013!!!

What We Did During Break

I know you all are just dying to know about all of the fun stuff we did over Christmas break...No? Well, you are going to find out anyway!

Every year Mitch and I both get the time off after Christmas until after the new year (well plus time prior to Christmas). It is a time we both cherish so much with Luci. This year I came down with sinus and ear infections...so, we weren't that adventurous, but we still had fun!!! There were few rules and no schedule! Naps were optional and so was bedtime!!! We really had such a good time. I wish that everyday could be as fun as our 9 full days together as a family of 3!! Lottery jack pot, where art thou?!?!

Since I was sick, I made lots of soups!!
Lasagna Soup (made with elbow mac), Cheesy Broccoli Soup, and Potato Soup with Pepper Jack Cheese!

We played Beauty Shop with Luci's new hair tools!
 We painted nails...
and toe nails too!!
We pouted a little when Mommy made us take a bath (not all rules were null and void!)...
We played lots of Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land!
We watched Daddy take down the Christmas lights from the comfort of our warm, cozy home!
We went out to eat a few times and got ourselves all pretty!
We also had a treat or two! Blue ring pop anyone???!!
We snuggled on the couch and watched movies/tv!
And we celebrated my birthday!! But more on that later...
