18 Month Stats

Luci had her 18 month well-baby (toddler?) check-up yesterday and got a couple of shots + her flu shot. We should be good to go on her shots until Kindergarten now!! Yay!!! This was probably her worst visit at the pediatrician. I think she is remembering what happens there. She whined and carried on most of the visit, but started feeling better once she got a book out of the treasure chest! I can't believe how big our little baby girl is getting...time is sure flying by.

18 MONTHS:

Weight- 23lbs- 30th percentile
Height- 31 inches- 29th percentile

What she is doing:

Can point to her nose, eyes, ears, mouth/tongue, hair, fingers/hands, toes/hands, belly button. Her favorite is the belly button. After you ask her to point to a body part, she insists on touching yours and everyone elses in the room. We have learned to skip the belly button when other people are over otherwise she will go around trying to lift every one's shirts up to find their buttons! Lol!

Loves to sing and be sung to. Her favorite songs are Skinnamarinky Dinky Dink, This Little Light of Mine, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, & Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes. She loves to do the hand motions to all of the songs!

Is becoming attached to lovies...her favorites are Mr. Bear and baby dolls. She is recently loving her "Deer Dog" that we got at Branson. She must have a lovie to take with her to bed at night.

She loves to play outside! It is her absolute favorite thing to do!!!

She loves to "give love"...this includes kisses and hugs!!! It melts Mommy and Daddy's heart big time!!!

The temper tantrums have definitely made their apperance. We usually just ignore them and then address them if we absolutely have to. Hopefully this phase will pass quickly! Lol!

What she is eating:

Her favorite foods are MILK, cheese, pasta, english peas, carrots, chicken, ham, turkey, applesauce, bananas, and animal crackers.

She does not like eggs, any potato except a french fry, most fruit (strawberries, pears, peaches, etc), and water.

What she is saying:

Some of these words don't sound exactly how they are suppose to, but she is definitely attempting to say lots of things. If she can't say something that we ask her to, she usually just ends up mumbling some type of jibberish...it's usually pretty funny!!!

Momma, Dada, Yellow, blue, purple, circle, square, dog, cat, mine, NO, yah, night-night, stinky, please, thank you, PePaw, Nana (this is either for Nana or banana), and up. Again, some of these words don't sound exactly how they are supposed to...but we are working on it! She has more words she uses, but I just can't remember them all right now!

She can also respond with Rawr for a Lion, Ruff for a dog, and Moo for a cow. We are currently working on these right now!!

She currently has 11 teeth...more are on the way!!!

Whew!!! Can you tell she has been a busy girl!?!? This makes for a tired Mommy and Daddy!!! We wouldn't have it any other way! We love our little Luci so much!!!

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him.

Black Friday Fun in Branson!!!

We spent the weekend in Branson this past Thanksgiving weekend!!! We headed up there on Friday for some Black Friday shopping! Black Friday is one of my favorite holidays! Can it be a holiday? Well, it is to me! I love it! Aside from being sick part of the time, we had a great weekend hitting the outlet malls and spending time together watching football in the condo! We took Luci to see Santa again...she still didn't like him...but I did get a free pic...just for baby book purposes!! Here are some pics of our weekend!!

Getting ready to start shopping!!!!It was quite chilly in Branson.

Just checking out the lights!

Posing for a family pic inside of the Bass Pro Shop.

Here is Mimi taking Luci to see Santa...she was NOT happy to see him!

We posed for a quick family pic and then we were done! She didn't hate us too bad!! :-)

Luci is definitely a "Daddy's Girl"!

Posing for a pic at the condo.

Nana, Mimi and Luci at The Branson Landing

And at the end of the trip, she was quite exhausted!

We had a great time together!!!! Now all I have to do is wrap Christmas presents...my LEAST favorite part of Christmas. Anybody volunteers out there...???!!!! LOL!!!! Happy Monday All!!!

Tasty Tuesday - PuMpKiN Style

So, Thanksgiving is Thursday (duh), and I have been thinking a lot about pumpkin foods!! I love pumpkin foods...pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin lattes, etc...however, I do not care for traditional pumpkin pie. This would be totally ok except for the fact that Mitch loves traditional pumpkin pie. So, what are the Minnick's to do?? We have a compromise...a no-bake Pumpkin cheesecake recipe that is to die for!!! We both love it and it satsifies both of our pumpkin cravings!! My mom usually makes this recipe for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas lunch, but I am going to make it this year!! Here is the recipe...

Ingredients:
1pkg.(8 oz.)PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1cup of canned pumpkin
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2tsp.pumpkin pie spice
1tub(8 oz.)COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
1HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.)

Directions:
Beat cream cheese, pumpkin, sugar and pumpkin pie spice with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gently stir in 2-1/2 cups of the whipped topping. Cover and refrigerate remaining whipped topping for later use.
Spoon cream cheese mixture into crust.
Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight. Serve topped with remaining whipped topping. Store leftover cheesecake in refrigerator.

What are some Thanksgiving favorites that you are
having?!

~Weekend Recap~

What a fun weekend in the Minnick house!!!

Friday: The three of us went to La Fiesta for dinner and then braved the Pre-Thanksgiving traffic at Wal-Mart for a little grocery shopping...ugh. After that, Mitch and I cleaned up the house a bit and I made a Reeses's Peanut Buttercup dessert in preparation for our Saturday guests, Mitch's parents!!!

Saturday: Luci woke us up crying at 5:30 am...she has been chewing on her paci and drooling a bit so we contributed our early wake-up call to teething...especially since she was pretty much inconsolable for about 30 minutes until the tylenol kicked in. So needless to say, we were up REALLY early! Mitch's parents arrived right around noon and I had enchiladas ready for us to eat. After lunch, his mom, Luci, and myself headed to Holiday Market for shopping while Mitch and his Dad stayed back to put together Luci's kitchen so it would be out of the way for Christmas. We spent about 2 1/2 hours at Holiday Market and I picked up some great finds, including this...

I've been wanting one of these forever! I just have to get it framed now!

After we finished shopping, we met up with the guys at the mall to take Luci to see Santa. I didn't have high hopes for her liking Santa since she is pretty suspicious of anyone that she doesn't see on a regular basis...and she didn't prove me wrong! We barely sat her down in his lap and she let out the biggest screaming cry I've heard in a while (such a dramatic diva! no clue where she gets that from!!). We immediately scooped her up and we talked to Santa from a distance. She was OK with that, but refused to give him a "high five", but did blow a kiss. Apparently, in the 5 seconds she was in his lap the camera crew snapped two shots of her screaming and proceeded to try to sell them to us. I was like no thanks, we can see that for free at home! Ha! Oh well, maybe next year she may like him better!! I sure wished she would have given us the same shot she did last year...

After Luci's "near death experience", we made it back to the house for a while and then went out to dinner. After dinner, we said goodbye to Mitch's folks and then headed for bed! We had such a great Saturday with them and had lots of good laughs!!!

Sunday: Mitch was having some tummy trouble in the morning so we didn't make it to church, but he started feeling better as the afternoon went. We ran a few shopping errands and then spent the afternoon playing with Luci, watching a movie, and relaxing!!!

Here are some pics of our girl from this weekend!!

Busy Weekend!

We had a busy weekend! Friday night my parents came over with Brendon and we put up our Christmas tree! You can read more about that here. Saturday, we got up early and watched Brendon at his soccer game! It was so cute seeing all the little 5 and 6 year olds out there running around! Saturday afternoon, Mitch did some yard work while I straightened up the house and made some enchiladas, and then we ran some errands. Later, we put up a few Christmas yard decorations. Saturday night, we went over to Mark and Quinn's to eat hamburgers and watch the hogs game. Sunday morning we went to church, and then I went to a baby shower for my friend Lindsey in the afternoon! After I came home, I cleaned out the car, Mitch did some laundry, and then we played outside with Luci. Whew! Busy Busy!! Here are a few pics of our weekend!
